Charity Evening Raises £700 for International Causes

Charity Evening Raises £700 for International Causes

On Tuesday 29/11 Dawnbreakers held a highly successful charity event at The Chandelier Tandoori Restaurant in Long Eaton. 80 guests enjoyed a great meal and an inspirational talk by Rotarian and Consultant Surgeon from Derby Royal Hospital, Syed Iftikhar about his work with a hospital in Pakistan. On the night over £700 was raised. A cheque for £400 was presented by President Stephen Kitch to Iftikhar and the other £300 will be split equally between on our ongoing work in Fiji and Ghana. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Under the expert guidance of our Project Manager Martin and his willing team of club helpers and with thanks to our friends at Long Eaton Rugby Club and Rolls Royce, we have made great strides. The final stages are to finish off the path, fill with soil and start planting.

New Member Julia Welcomed Aboard

The club is proud to welcome its latest member, Julia Pounder who was inducted by President Stephen Kitch. Julia had originally visited us to talk at one of our meetings about her work as an animal behavioural consultant and enjoyed our friendship and camaraderie so much she was invited to join.

After 25 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all.
