Rotary Club of Long Eaton Dawnbreakers.
I am writing to you to express my sincere gratitude for the help that you and your fellow members, gave to the Nottingham City Poppy Appeal this year. If it were not for the help and dedication of Rotary members, we would not have been able to staff three prime static points in the City Centre.
Due to their commitment over a two week period, Rotary members raised in excess of £70,000 pounds including money collected at Sainsbury’s in Arnold. Additional money has also been collected by other clubs helping their local branch of The Royal British Legion. This is a fantastic amount that has brought in much needed funds allowing the Royal British Legion to continue assisting it’s beneficaries.
I tried to visit all the sites where Rotarians were working and without exception was met by extremely friendly people doing an excellent job, who all said how much they had enjoyed the experience. As a result of last years experience during the Poppy Appeal, I became a Rotarian myself in January of this year and am very proud to tell people I am part of such a fantastic organisation.
This years Poppy Appeal has been extremely busy and without the support of the Rotary Clubs we would not have been able to achieve what we have. Not only have Rotarians stood in shopping centres and supermarkets, some have given up their time in assisting with delivering and collecting boxes in, as well as counting money over a protracted number of days. All of this help has been invaluable and is truly an example of two great organisations working together.
The knitted and crochet poppies have been fantastic and together with it being the 100th anniversary since the start of WW1, we are showing bumper amounts being banked from this years appeal.
Please pass on my grateful thanks to all of your members who assisted. I hope we can continue this partnership for many years to come.
May I wish you all a very happy Christmas and good health for 2015.
