Following some recent sponsorship from Dawnbreakers, Marie Crowley and her son Ben came along to the club to talk about their trip to Kenya with The Derby County Community Trust. They were part of a group working at a school in Nakuru when they came across a young man named Cliffton. He was in severe pain with a foot injury and walking with crutches. It came to light that he had badly broken his foot in a collision with a car many months earlier and his mother had been treating the wound herself as she could not afford the necessary hospital care. The wound was now severely infected and it was likely he would lose his foot if he did not receive treatment urgently. The group contacted the Community Trust back in Derby and a Just Giving page to raise £3k was started. Within a few days they had raised £7k and Cliffton has now had his treatment and is well on the road to recovery. A truly touching story with a happy ending. Well done Marie and Ben.
